Vocational Training

Vocational Training Program

Vocational training provides a means to learn a trade that can provide an avenue to earn an income to pay rent, purchase food and pay school fees. Kids First Uganda has provided opportunities to hundreds of people to be trained in culinary arts, crafting, tailoring, agriculture, technology, soap making, mechanics, and cosmetology. When training is completed graduates pay it forward by training and mentoring another student and also pay back the cost of the training so that the money is made available to another person wishing to learn a trade. The cost of the training ranges from $300 to $500. Repayable Microfinance loans are also available to start a small business. Contributions to this program allow us to expand the number and variety of training we can support.

Some of the ladies of the organization created a Savings and Credit Organization (SACO) where they collect funds on a weekly basis.  At the end of the year this money is used to buy basic home needs and gifts for sharing among themselves to uplift their well being at home.

In 2023, we also have a new group of women leaders, each of whom is committed to KFU.  They will bring new ideas and perspectives to the women's group.  We are grateful for their commitment to leadership of the organization's mission.
