Papa Pete’s Produce Project

An agricultural program to raise healthy food to eat and sell was named “Papa Pete’s Produce Project”, honoring the husband of Mary Taylor (founder and director of KFU-Michigan) who passed away in 2020. Pete was very supportive of his wife’s work in Uganda and, although he never went to  Uganda, he was known by the women and children there as Papa Pete. Pete shared his love of gardening and cooking with all who knew him and he would be pleased the women and children in Uganda will have these same experiences. The project includes a greenhouse to raise specialty items that are difficult to raise in gardens and can be sold at the market, as well as demonstration gardens so KFU women and children can get their hands dirty growing food for their tables.
