Introducing Coach Kapyo Alex

Kapyo Alex Junior is 30 years old and a Ugandan national who was born in Jinja to a humble background of 8 children.  The village he grew up in was challenging because of high levels of poverty, unwanted pregnancies, drug and alcohol addiction and a high dropout rate from school.  Studying and playing soccer was his passion!  Because he studied hard and honed his soccer skills, Alex was able to pay for his eduction with soccer scholarships. He entered the world of professional soccer and plays/played in the 2nd division National League.

Alex knows firsthand the opportunities for Ugandan children through participation in a soccer program.  He wanted to give back by becoming involved with coaching and meeting Joshua (our KFU Director).  Joshua gave Alex this opportunity and he is both the KFU Coach and Soccer Academy Manager. Under his direction, this program has grown into a well respected, nationally recognized soccer program.  Alex says he has seen so many positive changes in his team members in regards to school, character, discipline, motivation, and passion for the sport.

In addition to his degree in Development Studies from Kampala University, Alex continues his education to garner more knowledge about teaching, coaching, and mentoring at-risk children.

• BUREF Training (an approach of using soccer for mental well being and social cohesion)
• Coaching the Coachable Football Clinic
• CAF D coaching diploma
